In vietnamese marriage history, the day of the ceremony is considered the end of a new book in a child’s lifestyle and is marked by many royal rites. Some of them are based on ancient ideas and others are influenced by Confucian and Buddhist ideas.

For case, before the service, the groom’s household likely explore the couple’s families and inquire for their permission to take the female ahead. The vicar’s representatives may take gifts in special boxes adorned with red fabric: betel leaves and areca hand berry, cakes and jewels for the wedding, as well as a baked piglet to reflect good fortune for the couple.

The ceremony ends with the lighting of a Dragon and Phoenix candle to officially symbolise the fusion of families.
